What's New at the Fire Pit and Grilling Guru

We are quickly moving into fall and winter and that means that grilling season is slowing down. However, that doesn't mean you have to stop enjoying cooking with fire! First of all, now is the perfect time to enjoy a nice outdoor fire pit to keep warm on these cooler nights! And what better way to keep warm than to huddle around the ol' barbecue, enjoying the aromas of grilling food and then sharing a great dinner of grilled food? While it may be getting too cool to eat outside, that doesn't mean you can't cook outside!

Another option for grilled cooking as the weather gets colder is to move it indoors! For one thing, there are many options for indoor grilling, from stovetop grills to Panini presses to electric rotisserie cookers.

Also, for the adventurous chef with a nice fireplace, don't forget to start gearing up for fireplace cooking. If you haven't done it yet, cooking in your hearth is one of the most rewarding experiences you can have. Try a fireplace classic like string-turned leg of lamb.

Here are some recent articles which I have posted to the Firepit and Grilling Guru:

Campfire Cooking
This is a brand new section I am just starting to build! While there are only a couple pages of info so far, check back often as I build up this feature which will give you lots of tips on how to make the most of your campfire to cook up some great meals, including skewer cooking, campfire tripods, and campfire grills.

What is the Best Firewood
Gearing up for winter, make sure you have enough firewood! In my firewood section I have built a new page with even more info all about different types of firewood. What is the best firewood? Best for what? Find out here!

The Whole Pig Roast
I get lots of emails asking for tips on cooking whole larger animals, particularly a whole pig. I have recently added this whole new section with several articles about planning and executing a whole pig roast. This includes several pages about equipment, preparation, sourcing a whole hog and even some recipe ideas. I even have a few ideas for cooking a whole lamb as well.

The Smoker Box
The smoker box is a grill accessory which can come in handy whether you use a charcoal or gas grill. Find out how it can help improve your grilled foods.
